Announcement from DTL and Element - December 09, 2011

For 108 years Detroit Testing Laboratory has been one of the leading companies in Automotive, Military and Aerospace testing, offering a diversified set of services for over 2000 customers throughout the world. During the long history of the company, DTL has made many changes to grow with our customers and enhance the services we provide.

Today, we would like to announce another monumental moment in our history. This week we have agreed to be acquired by Element Materials Technology, formerly Stork Materials Technology. We have joined Element because they share our commitment to our customers, industries we serve and employees. As we continue to grow with our customers on a global scale, it was time to join a company that already operates on that scale and can bring immediate benefit to our customers. However, you can rest assured your "home team" will still be intact to serve you on a local level. We do not intend to make any changes to the labs you work with and the outstanding services you depend on. We understand we are only as good as the local lab and we are very committed to keeping what works in place.

Over the next several months the DTL name will be replaced with the new company name - Element. We encourage you to go to our new website www.element.com and check us out. There is a video on the home page that describes who we are and what we can do for you. We believe you will be as excited as we are for the future as Element brings service to a new level for our customers.

Detroit Testing Laboratory, Inc. Presents Achievement Awards - March 15, 2011

In 2005, Detroit Testing Laboratory (DTL) established two annual achievement awards to recognize individuals or groups of employees who have made the most significant contributions to the success of the company. These awards, named for William Putnam (who founded DTL in 1903) and Pier Talenti (who led a significant expansion of DTL during his 21 years of leadership), recognize employees who excel in advancing DTL's or our customers' technology (William Putnam Award) and are a model of hard work and dedication (Pier Talenti Award). Nominations for these awards are submitted by the DTL management group, with final award winners selected by Executive Management based on supporting information from respective managers, supervisors and co-workers. Each award includes a formal presentation of a certificate of achievement, a substantial cash award, and inscribed recognition on respective company award plaques. The awards are presented at the end of each year during the company holiday luncheon.

The 2010 William P. Putnam Technology Award was presented to Steve Labadie for his contribution to DTL's Electrical Engineering lab. Steve, employed with DTL since 1998, was recognized for his tireless dedication and creative efforts at meeting difficult timing and complex requirements on several significant projects, as well as the invaluable help and support he provides to his team. Steve's wide-range of talents compliments his ability to meet the most aggressive deadlines through creative solutions and he regularly receives accolades from customers for the extraordinary service he provides.

The 2010 Pier F. Talenti Leadership Award was presented to Mary Soumis for her outstanding leadership and character contribution to DTL. Ms. Soumis' positive attitude, dedication and hard work are very important to DTL in her role as Purchasing and Accounting Coordinator. An employee of DTL since 2006, Ms. Soumis is a tireless worker carrying a huge workload with little or no direction necessary from DTL management. She received the most support from the employees as the person most worthy of this award. Ms. Soumis was a 2009 finalist for this award.
